Guys. I don’t think you understand how excited I am for summer. However, the one thing that my Minnesota-native self can’t stand is extreme heat. New York City is not my friend in the summer. It’s hot, it’s humid, and you sweat. A lot.
But, fear not. In this season of iced drinks, you’re still going to be running to work, and you’re still going to need to caffeinate. So, if you’re like me and are notorious for snoozing your alarm, keep reading. This iced coffee recipe will have you out the door in no time.
Step 1: Gather Ingredients
You’ll need the following:
i. Coffee of choice (I use Trader Joe’s K-cups because I’m out of my usual Caribou Coffee light roast)
ii. Milk of choice (I use Trader Joe’s unsweetened almond milk)
iii. Ice cubes
iv. A large travel cup (I have a 20oz glass jar with a lid & straw)
v. 1/2 cup measure
vi. 16oz glass container (to hold coffee overnight)
Step 2: Brew Before Bed
The reason this recipe is so easy is that most of the prep is done the night before. I have a Keurig in my kitchen, so that’s what I’ll be using:
i. Brew 16oz of coffee
ii. Pour it in a glass container (I use a Pyrex glass 2 cup measure)
iii. Stick it in the fridge overnight
Step 3: Good Morning!
So you managed to get out of bed. Congrats! Here are your next steps:
i. Put your desired amount of ice cubes into the travel cup
ii. Measure 1/2 cup of your milk of choice and pour over the ice
iii. Take your coffee out of the fridge and pour over the milk
iv. Stir and enjoy!
See, that wasn’t so bad! Now you can literally walk right out the door and take your coffee to go. And it will help you stop sweating when it’s hot out. A win-win!
